Every Child Outside was founded on the belief that restoring the bond between humans and nature is essential for the health of the environment, society, and the next generation.
Research shows that outdoor education improves test scores, social dynamics, mental and physical health, and environmental literacy and bonding.
Through our state-approved professional development courses, we provide teachers with accessible, practical pathways to integrate outdoor learning—no matter their subject area, grade level, or access to green space. Our programs adhere to state learning and development requirements, blending research, creativity, and community, giving educators the space to brainstorm and plan for new ways to integrate nature into the curriculum. From simple sensory awareness walks to addressing eco-anxiety and grief, we provide tools and conversations to address a wide range of experiences that arise in environmental education.
Maine is a national leader in outdoor education, from the Maine Outdoor School for All Act, to Senator Susan Collins being a co-sponsor of the national No Child Left Inside Act. We are a culture that is aware of and grateful for the presence of nature in our lives.
Let’s continue leading the way to Every Child Outside!
